The dressing table (along with lot 5 and lot 6 in this sale) was purchased by the consignor's great grandparents from R.J. Horner in New York City in the early 1890s. The suite was purchased for the family's country house in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. (See attached photos of the suite in situ at the Lake Geneva home). After the Lake Geneva estate was sold in 1959, the consignor's parents used the suite in their Chicago home on State Street.

Condition:
In overall decent, stable, condition. Old scuffs, marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. Top of case with some scattered instances of heavier wear and some stains and sun fading to finish. Base of gallery lacking some caps on screw hoes. Small chip to turning knob of mirror. Mirror plate exhibits signs of age and some flaking to silver backing. Long drawer lacking one post on drawer pull on left side. Losses to spandrel decoration on sides and front. Losses to veneer on side edges of knee hole. Additional images available upon request.
