Quarter Plate Tintype of Union Cavalryman,

instantly recognizable as the armed cavalryman mounted on a gray roan published in "Echoes Of Glory: Arms And Equipment of the Union." This image is the classic outdoor view of a double-armed horseman pointing his 1862 Police revolver at an imaginary butternut target. The photograph was staged in front of an actual camp with tents visible in the immediate background. Housed in a complete composition case.

Condition:Like most outdoor photography the image is slightly dark. The plate shows several mat abrasions and has been trimmed on a horizontal plane from quarter plate size. Not noticeable are numerous vertical lines dead center in the top varnish. Clarity is strong, thought not outstanding, overall GOOD condition.
