Quarter Plate Tintype of Civil War Zouave

Quarter plate tintype of a wartime private wearing the uniform of either the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry (Baxter's Zouaves) or the 95th Pennsylvania (Gosline's Zouaves). Both wore dark blue collarless jackets edged with a narrow band of red trim and 12-13 small ball buttons per side, in this image highlighted with gilt, as is the US on his belt buckle. Generally speaking, the 72nd had a light blue vest underneath while the 95th wore dark blue (some variation noted). The young Zouave stands in front of a camp scene backdrop, posed with his rifled-musket and bayonet. Housed in Roger deCoverly and the Gypsies Fortune 1 Union Case [Berg 1-37] with some chips along edges/corners. Image is dark, few nicks to surface of plate, few minor creases.
