Quarter Plate Tintype of Civil War Outdoor Scene,

featuring a group of thirteen dismounted cavalrymen drawn up before a large Sibley tent. At the center is a regally posed tall officer with a cigar in his hand appearing to contemplate the sound of the guns. On the breast of his frock coat is an indistinct clothe badge, or, alternatively, two side-by-side campaign medals suggesting prior service in the British military. Two fellow officers present a mixture of alacrity and disinterest. Armed with sabers the troop of cavalry is mostly at attention. Dress brass shoulder scales adorn their shell jackets weighting an eastern bias to the location of the setting. A fine, outdoor view.

Condition:The plate is in EXC condition except for two small chemical spots dead center. The image has been remounted in an earlier style mat and is housed in a replacement black gutta percha case with generic leaf motifs and minor edge damage.
