Project Double Barrel Flintlock Pistol by Renauld
.52 caliber. 6.25" barrel lengths. SN: NSN. Double-barrel flintlock pistol featuring gold damascened designs to barrels and a front bead sight. Item shows some polish to lockplates but metal finish is a brown patina overall. Features a full length stock of curly maple. Right lockplate bears the signature "RENAULD" with the left showing the address "A BESANCON". Breeches of barrels are engraved with "{Sunburst}" designs and show traces of floral gold damascened designs running the length of the barrel rib and tops of barrels. Each lockplate shows border scroll with light engraving embellishing the signature and address marks. Upper stock carved with floral designs around the tang and forward of triggerguard finial. Triggerguard and pommel show further floral scroll. Pommel cap has a slot cut into it beneath four hash marks. Wood to metal fit is tight overall but touch holes are not centered above pans. Item is missing its cleaning rod and the stock has been broken past first securing pin. Right lock is missing its cock but retains the frizzen and pan.
Condition:
Fair to Good. Bores are dark with patina and dust throughout. Overall metal finish is a brown patina with some polish above signature and address marks. Wood to metal finish is tight, but forend cap of stock has broken off leaving the first securing pin exposed. Wood stock has chipped and broken away beneath both lockplates. Wood is scratched and marred overall.
