Presentation Grade Staff and Field Officer's Sword with Scabbard

32" blade length with an etched panel of eagle, stars, a banner with E. Pluribus Union. Pommel shape of Phrygian helmet decorated with floral sprays. Guard is of a half-basket design with two branches with floral designs and US and an eagle on the end of the guard. The handle of cast silver and chased in relief with foliate reserves enriched with roundels and fittings. Scabbard is metal with browned finish. Highly decorated gilt brass bands. The drag with soldier and crossed flags; the middle band with a shield and Union; the top band with an {eagle}.

Condition:

Overall this sword is very good, the blade having been lightly clean to bright with smooth metal. The guard and handle are very nice with an untouched patina. The scabbard still retains a lot of the browned finish. The band still retains much of the gilt finish. A very fine flashy presentation Civil War sword with no presentation.
