Pair of Militia Images, Including Daguerreotype Portrait by C.D. Fredericks and Unmarked Albumen Portrait

Lot of 2.

Fredericks, New York. Pencil inscription behind image reads, "Taken April 30th / 61. / 'here I am' / Oh! Siseo[?] why did you go for a 'Soldier?'" Housed in a half pressed paper, push-button case.

Sixth plate tintype portrait featuring possibly the same private or a close relative, having joined Co. A of the 71st NYSM, wearing a dark fatigue jacket with light blue shoulder straps, a white belt, and a dark forage cap with "A / 71" insignia. Housed in a half pressed paper case.

Daguerreotype with heavy tarnish to edges, some of which interferes with portrait. Mat with some spotting. Half case with general wear.

Ambrotype with light (only visible from certain angles) scratch/crackle to soldier's face extending to the right, and some light abrasions/spots throughout plate. Image quite clear. Half case with general wear, part of spine repair fabric/tape hanging off.
