Pair of German Flintlock Pistols

.520 bore diameter, 11" octagonal-to-round tapered barrel, The long barrels of Spanish form with gilt stamped German proofs at the octagonal breeches with silver foresights. The flat lock plates finely relief-chiseled with strap work and a lion rampant. The swan neck cocks chiseled en suite with the locks and frizziness. Figured and molded light walnut full stocks are carved in relief at barrel tangs and under rear ramrod pipes. The brass mounts are cast and chased with strap work. The full side plates cast and chased with dogs harrying a boar.

Condition is very good with little wear to engraving on steel and some original bluing on barrel of one pistol. Brass mounts retain traces of original gilding. Horn tipped ramrods possibly original. The locks retain their original small parts. Stocks are crisp though showing evidence of old cleaning. A very attractive pair of long mid-18th century German holster pistols.
