Northwest Trade Rifle, From the James B. Scoville Collection

.590 bore diameter, 37" octagonal-to-round barrel. Lockplate dated 1854 on the rear. {Circle} {fox} proof mark on the lockplate under the percussion drum. Stock has beaver tail carving behind the tang. Border around the lockplate.  Brass tacks on the tang on the bottom of the stock from the toe to the triggerguard. Brass tacks running down the stock on both sides. Iron triggerguard, brass serpent sideplate, brass buttplate screwed to the stock.  Walnut stock.


Barrel with nice brown patina; a small area on the top of the barrel at the breech has been cleaned. Lock and hammer are gray to brown. Brass tacks have dark patina around the tacks. Stock with untouched patina.  Overall excellent.
