Native American Style Decorated Musket with Painted Parfleche Scabbard

.70 caliber, 29.5" round barrel secured by rawhide and metal straps, no S/N. No finish, hardwood stock, iron furniture with brass tack decorations including a medicine wheel motif on the butt with added leather and feather hanging decorations. Gun appears to be a shortened Continental military flintlock musket altered to percussion with a crude replacement hammer, nailed flat iron buttplate from a trade fusillade and the noted added decorations. Musket is accompanied by a crudely made scabbard that appears to have been a patient parfleche that was repurposed to a scabbard with large leather laces to secure the seam.

Condition:

Fair. Metal heavy oxidized and rusted with pitting. Lock needs mechanical attention, hammer does not align with percussion cone and appears to be from a Middle Eastern or Indian sub continent weapon, not something typical of North America or Native American uses. Wood heavily worn with cracks, breaks and splits. Additional decorations of indeterminate age. Scabbard with moderate wear and of crude construction. The authenticity of Native American used and decorated weapons can be extremely difficult to ascertain and no guarantee of such authenticity is provided.
