.65 caliber smoothbore, 15.5" barrel, no S/N. Metal and stock painted black with ocher painted leather wrap securing barrel to shortened stock. Overall length 22.5" with butt removed and wrist of stock reshaped to a rudimentary grip. No furniture, triggergaurd removed. J. HENRY marked percussion lock. An attractive example of the type of what appears to be a Native American modified long gun designed for easy concealment and one handed use from horse back.
Condition:
Good. Retains some of the black paint with thinning and wear, leather wrap with thinning ocher paint, leather with wear and some loss. Lock partially functional, hammer likely an old replacement that is loose. Bore is poor and heavily rusted. Wood with expected wear.
