Trinidadian-born jazz and classical pianist, singer, and actor Hazel Scott was a critically acclaimed performing artist and an outspoken critic of racial discrimination and segregation. She used her status as an entertainer to shine a spotlight on issues of civil rights and racial injustice and to improve the representation of Black Americans in film.

James J. Kriegsmann (1909 – 1994) was a celebrity and theatrical photographer who worked from 1929 to the early 1960s.
