34" quillback blade. Leather and brass wire wrapped handle. Brass backstrap and pommel, brass half-basket hilt, metal scabbard with flared throat and large drag. Two bands and carrying rings. Blade with engraved United States, on the reverse side N.P. Ames.
The blade is gunmetal gray with some light staining. Markings are light but readable. Brass with nice dark untouched patina. The scabbard is mostly a brown patina. A couple of small dents that are hardly noticeable. Overall a good example of an Ames 1833 sword.
