22 lr 26' barrel s/n 25038 This 22 lr training rifle was designed to mimic the weight and balance of the Mauser 98 military rifle. The prewar Mauser banner rifle was a popular small game and training rifle. The barrel is marked "22 LANG FUR BUCHSEN" and "MAUSER WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N". Marked on the right side of the receiver is "Deutsches Sportsmodell". Complete with military rear sight and military front sight with protective muzzle cap. The right side of the rear stock has a strong cartouche "RFSS" in a circle. Steel butt plate and cleaning rod are present.
Very Fine condition Retains most of original blue with slight thinning on the muzzle end of the barrel. The bore is bright showing little use. The walnut stock shows small dings consistent with age and use.
