**Mauser C96 Austrian Contract Pistol with Holster Stock

7.63mm, 5.5" barrel,  S/N 383848. Blued finish, bright bolt, niter blued small parts, 33-groove hardwood grips. 1,000 meter tangent rear sight, slotted for shoulder stock. Standard wartime commercial markings, small ring hammer with NS marking, matching full or partial serial number on chamber, backstrap, lock frame, hammer, bolt, magazine floor plate and in grips. Rare Austrian acceptance mark W*n {Austrian Eagle} 17 on right of chamber. Only 14,378 commercial C1896/12 pistols were acquired by the Austrian military during WWI, 3,000 in 1915, 2581 in 1916 and 8,797 in 1917, making these guns extremely scarce. The pistol is accompanied by a Mauser banner marked holster stock that is not numbered or inspected.

Condition:

Fine. Retains much of the blued finish with some thinning, high edge wear and minor loss with areas of thinned blue blending with a lightly oxidized plum patina. Small parts retain much of their bright niter blued finish. All markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically functional, fair bore shows moderate surface rust in the grooves but might clean up. Grips with some lightly scattered bumps and dings. Stock with more moderate handing marks and surface mars.
