** Marlin Model 1897 Rifle
.22 S/L/LR. 24" octagonal barrel length. SN: 439707. Tube-fed lever-action rifle. Has a blued metal finish to barrel, with case hardened flat-top frame and a plain straight-grip walnut stock. Features a blade front sight with adjustable buckhorn elevator rear sight, and a hard rubber Marlin branded butt plate. Top of barrel is marked with standard two-line Marlin address, patent dates, and caliber. Upper tang marked with model name and number. Serial number is marked to bottom of frame.
Condition:
Good. Bore is dark. Barrel retains most of the original blue finish with some thinning on sharp edges and old minor patches of thin oxidation. Frame shows some remnants of case hardening. Stock shows some minor handling marks and blemishes with an apparent repair on toe of stock consisting of a sanded area and chip off butt plate. Action is functional.
