Magnificent Eagle Hilt Sabre,

manufactured by the German cutler, A. Berger, and so marked just below the ricasso along with "Warranted." A beautiful example of a sabre made for the American market, this with cast brass mounts, the pommel a well executed eagle, the knucklebow flat, with relief casting of various geometric motifs, the planchette a shield-breasted eagle, the grip of carved and checkered bone. The blade with an unstoppered fuller, blued with engraved and acid etched patriotic and floral motifs. Total length 36." With its original brass scabbard, one side completely engraved with floral motifs. A fine, desirable sabre.

Condition:Blade retaining much of its original bluing and gilt hightlights, scabbard with couple of tiny dings.
