Lot of Two Tsubas including Shibuischi Tsuba with Silver Hogan Moon
1.) 1.75" width. 2" length. Brass tsuba depicts cherry blossoms and buds to both sides lying beneath a sky showing gold flecked stars and a silver crescent moon. Item features a brass core with silver applied to cherry blossoms and moon and further gold accents.
2.) 3" width. 3.25" length. Iron tsuba showing a pair of nesting cranes beneath a mountainous horizon with a river flowing on the obverse. The beaks and crests of the cranes show copper highlights with gold applied to their legs and silver to their feathers.
Condition:
1.) Fine. Silver accents show some tarnish with silver finish having worn through in places. Details to blossoms and branches remain discernable but show some weakening.
2.) Fair. Details to designs remain sharp, but original patinaed finish has been removed. Some traces of the dark brown finish still visible around cranes and details.
