List of Arms Sent to Kentucky, Civil War

Approx. 2.5 manuscript pages, partially in ink, with notes in pencil. The first page has arms sent to Kentucky, between June 5 (n.y.) and Sept. 28. Those placing orders include: Lt. Nelson, U.S.N.; a second order for Nelson marked "for Eastern TEnn.)B.W. Foley; Capt S.F. Miller; P.R. Shipman; Laze (?) Anderson; Genl. Anderson, Mr. Speed; Genl. Higby's Brigade; Genl. Sherman. Totals include over 33,000 small arms plus a few dozen larger guns, including 2 Mt. Howitzers.

The inner pages note that "The State of Ohio is preparing for the field at Cincinnatti [sic] 188 guns." The note that follows indicate the number ready, the number needing inspection, etc. There are also notes that Indiana has 10 Batteries and Illinois 14 Batteries, with notes as to how many arms are ready or nearly so.

Notes for Sept. 28: "Genl. Anderson purchased 768 Colts rifles angular bayonets" and 48 Colts rifles round(?) bayonets. Then Nov. 8 Genl. Sherman purchased 1000 Muskets, 1000 sabres, and 1000 pistols.

These notes sound like records from an armory (or some other large ordnance stock), but there is no indication of place, year, etc. on the document.

Nearly separated at central fold, and other folds starting. Light overall toning.
