L.V. Helmold Pocket Surgical Instrument Kit, Ca Late Nineteenth Century

Wood case with brass fittings, red velvet lining, and "L.V. Helmold" maker label in bottom compartment, dimensions 7.125 x 3.125 x 1.125 in. Includes ten instruments, most of which are marked "L.V. Helmold," including scalpels, forceps, scissors, and a tenaculum. Also included in the kit is a needle and thread.

Louis V. Helmold was a surgical instrument maker located in Philadelphia from the 1850s until 1897. The Philadelphia address on the label included in this lot reads, "127 S. Tenth St.," a location at which Helmold worked from 1871 until 1897. 


Kit with fair wear and tear due to age. Instruments with varying degrees of wear including rust and corrosion, velvet with discoloration.
