Kohei Nakamura (1948, Japan)

Whiteware; ht. 17, wd. 12, dp. 11 in.

Nakamura holds a B.A. from Tama University of Fine Arts (1973) and in 1979 received a National Fellowship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.  As Nakamura explains, “I do not want to understand baroque historically, I want to mimic it visually.” Adding sci-fi elements to this baroque cradle, his work has a potent assembly of past, present and future.
