The document concerns John Madey and his request for citizenship. The document states, in part, That he is an alien, a free white person, that he has resided within the limits...of the United States...He therefore prays that upon his making proof...that he is a person of good character, he may be admitted as a Citizen of the United States.
Accompanied by clipped signature, approx. 3.25 x 1 in. (sight), signed in black ink John Quincy Adams. Matted and framed together with modern portrait of Adams, 25.5 x 21.5 in. overall.
Manuscript legal document accompanied by Certificate of authenticity from R&R Enterprises. Document in very good condition, with some toning at folds, few spots. Not examined outside of frame but COA notes there is a tape repair on reverse to a complete bisecting horizontal separation, lightly affecting a line of text.
