Joel E. Whitney Stereoview of Winnebago Chiefs in Council,

on regular-sized yellow mount with his elaborate logo and a 2 cent revenue stamp on verso. This image was taken at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, in 1863; Winnesheik is seated in the middle, holding a large quilled pipestem and flanked by two other men, each holding long pipestems. Other men hold bows and arrows and a large Bowie knife. Two hand drums lay in the foreground.

Condition:Light soiling on mount, otherwise fine.
