Joel E. Whitney Stereoview of Po-Go-Nay-Ke-Shick (Hole in the Day), The Celebrated Chippewa Chief,

on regular-sized square corner yellow mount with his St. Paul imprint. A fine vignetted view of Hole in the Day (1825-1868) leaning on a gunstock war club. A leader of the Gull Lake Ojibwa band, he sagely led his people away from the 1862 Sioux uprising. He was ambushed and killed in 1868 by members of a rival Ojibwa band.
