Brass "doughnut" mount, approx. 1 in. dia. overall, obverse with ferrotype portrait of Jefferson Davis, reverse with ferrotype portrait of P.G.T. Beauregard, each identified below. This ferrotype, which was produced in 1861, may have been issued after the fall of Fort Sumter and the outbreak of hostilities or following the Confederate victory at First Manassas.
Ferrotype of Davis is a bit dark; Beauregard ferrotype shows more contrast. Both images are clear. Hole at top of ferrotype (where ribbon would have been attached, although ribbon is not present).
