Javelle Patent Pinfire Revolver

9mm, 3.75" barrel, S/N 527. Blued finish, saw handled walnut grip. Double action, 6-shot pocket pinfire revolver. Bottom of frame stamped JAVELLE M ST. ETIENNE in an arc over Bte S.G.D.G. The initials J.C. are inlaid in gold on the bottom of the triggerguard. Top flat of barrel engraved Fs Berger Brevete a St. Etienne. The Javelle system operated by pushing the lever under the barrel to the right, which unclamps the barrel, allowing it to tip down so the cylinder can be removed for loading and unloading. M. Javelle worked in St. Etienne circa 1860-1880.

Condition:

Fine, retains most of the blue on the barrel and cylinder showing most of the loss on the frame. Markings clear, mechanically functional, fine bore with some scattered oxidation. Grip lightly sanded with bumps and dings.
