Japanese Sword (Wakizashi)

Mid 19th century Japanese Wakizashi Sword. 23.5" short blade, 32.5 overall length with Shirasaya scabbard.  Suguha hamonNakago with one mekugi-ana.  Signed with two-character signature. Blade contained with high quality shirasaya. Traditional Japanese sword, with clearly distinguishable Kissaki, Boshi, and Yokote. Sharp Ha, clear Hamon, and fine Shinogi. However the Hamachi and Mune-Machi are not visible above the Nakago. Tempered edge "runs off" the back, polish seems intended to camouflage the flaw. Possibly signed {Man-en, 1860}.

Blade has scattered bits of oxidation along length of blade. Area of micro-chips to midway on blade. Very minor shinsetsu. Boshi rolled with micro-chips.

Estimate: $400 - $700
