Import U.S. Model 1840 Cavalry Saber
34.5" single edged blade, 27.5" median fuller. Width at ricasso 1.13". Three-branch brass guard with wire-wrapped leather grip. Iron mounted scabbard with painted ring mounts and drag. No manufacturer's markings on ricasso. Includes leather sword knot.
Condition:
Fair. Blade has a dark gray patina with some chips to edge. Guard has a dull patina with some bronzing and darkening on underside. Grip has lost some of its leather with evidence of replacement. Some wire has loosened. Scabbard has an overall dark plumb coloration with flaking paint and some dents.
