Harpers Ferry U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Musket
.69 caliber. 42" barrel length. SN: NSN. Dark brown patina to all metal work with full length walnut stock, sling swivels cut off, percussion lock. Single-shot percussion rifle with lockplate marked with {Spread Eagle}/US while rear lock marked HARPERS/FERRY/1844. Right side of stock numbered 76 while comb stamped D. Barrel bands are iron with no visible inspection marks. Front sight is brass. No legible cartouche to stock. Left side of stock carved with initials D.W.H. Item comes with button head full length ramrod. Item fitted with a modern replacement nipple.
Condition:
Good. Bore is dark with patina and some pitting and oxidation throughout. Metal finish is a dark brown patina with some light pitting to barrel bands, lock screws, breech, and nipple. Marking on tang is illegible. Chip to wrist just behind tang. Wood to metal fit is tight with some scratches and mars along its length.
