Half plate daguerreotype featuring portrait after print of Peter Faneuil (1700-1743), a wealthy New York-born colonial merchant, slave trader, and philanthropist who donated Faneuil Hall to Boston. Housed in full case, separated at hinge, with velvet mat identified to Whitehurst Galleries, New York, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk, Petersburg, and Lynchburg.
Condition:
Some tarnish along perimeter where plate meets mat. Image a bit light, but details still clear. Surface wear to case, which is fully separated at hinge.
