Group of 20 Sky Birds Trading Cards

The National Chicle Co. (Cambridge, MA) issued the Sky Birds sets in 1933-1934. These colorful cards depict famous pilots (WWI), aircraft and pioneers of aviation. The first 24-card set (1933) featured WWI fighter pilots. The 1934 cards follow with No. 25 - 108. The company planned an issue of 24 cards, but the company increased the size of the set because of their popularity. Thus, the early cards state that they are part of "a series of 48 cards," which was changed to "a series of 144 cards" in later printings. This group contains 16 of the first ("set of 48") and 4 of the second ("set of 144").
