ADS, 8 x 12 in., Decatur Co., GA, n.d. Claim by a guardian of two minors that they have a 2/3rds claim in three negroes, Tom (value $900), Allen (value ($450) and Vinah (value $150). The person who held the other 1/3 refused to give them up.
ADS, 7 x 11.5 in., Decatur Co., GA, 2 April 1833. Claim that "...a certain negroe boy named Jack now living on the property of John H. Gray ....is the property of [William Donalson Jr.]."
ADS, 7.5 x 12.25 in., Sumter Co., GA, 23 Dec. 1859 (7?). Listing of rents of land and hire of negroes of the estate of James Barlow, dec'd. Lists three pieces of property and 28 slaves, who is renting them and how much they owe for the year.
ADS, 4pp, 8 x 12 in., Decatur Co., GA. Appraisal of estate of William Donalson made the 22 & 24 of Dec., 1863. Lists 102 negroes, plus harnesses, wagons, ox carts, etc. The slaves alone were valued at over 150,000.
ADS, 2pp, 7.5 x 12.5 in., Dooly Co., GA. Oct. 1859. Appraisal of estate of Benjamin F. Petter, including seven slaves valued at $8400. Detailed estate listing including clocks, shotgun, furniture, livestock, buggy, saddle, etc.
ADS, 1.5 pp, 8 x 12.5 in., Sumter Co., GA. 6 Dec. 1858. "By virtue of an order...requiring us to make distribution of the negroes belonging to the Estate of Isaac Ramsay..." 23 slaves were divided among four heirs, plus cash payments to equalize the values.
ADS, 3pp, 8 x 10 in., Sumter Co., GA. 14 Jan. 1861. Appraisal of the negroes belonging to the Estate of Thomas M. Mann (dec'd).
ADS, 1p, 8 x 11.5 in. Poss. Stewart Co., GA, though not stated as such. 21 Oct. 1856. Findings of the jury for the administrator of the estate of Lewis G. Dupree (dec'd). Giving value of slaves and amount received for hiring them.
Plus tax receipt for Augusta Co., GA for 1861 with preprinted lines for value of land, slaves and personal property. This one filled out for land only. Also a line for "Special Tax on Real and Personal Property for Volunteers." (for the war that had just begun?)
Variable. Most with folds and some degree of toning. One or two a bit light, but most readable.
