French Trade Ax Ca 1600 "Double Cross"

This is a example of an early trade ax brought to the New World for trade with the Native Americans of the Eastern woodlands. Axes bearing the "double cross" (variant Cross of Lorraine) were traded to them by Champlain.

Condition:Very good. Surface pitted.
