Flintlock Trade Pistol by W. Allport
.52 caliber. 8" two-stage barrel length. SN: NSN. Flintlock pistol with a ground down post front sight. Brass barrel with brass and browned metal furnishings. Walnut stock grip and forearm are plain. Markings include "LONDON" to top of barrel, and "W. ALLPORT" to center of lockplate. Barrel is also marked with two weak crossed scepter Birmingham proofs surrounding a "V" mark on top left of barrel. Item features a figural brass triggerguard with simple floral rosette engraving, two thimbles, metal medallion to top of grip, and a swan neck cock lever. Item possibly converted to percussion at some point. Includes wood ramrod.
Condition:
Fair. Bore is dark with oxidation and residue. Brass finish has green oxidation around touchhole area, and mottled darkened discoloration to brass overall. There is also surface oxidation and dust residue to lockplate. Walnut stock has two cracks to left side around lock screw, with scratches and mars scattered overall. Item appears to be missing a stock nail toward forend.
