Fine Winchester Model 1886 Rifle in .45-90

.45-90, 26" octagonal barrel, S/N 113282 (mfg. ca1897). Blued barrel and magazine tube, color casehardened frame, straight gripped walnut stock with crescent buttplate, smooth forend. Standard markings, factory installed Lyman peep tang sight and Lyman dovetailed blade front sight. Barrel sight seat with factory blank, as per factory letter. A wonderful example of a case hardened 1886 in one of the most desirable calibers. Includes a Winchester factory letter that confirms the configuration.

Fine. Retains much of the blue on the barrel, with some thinning and fading, blending with plum, less blue on the full-length magazine tube. Receiver with much of the vivid case color on the left side, duller and thinner on the right. Triggerguard tang and hammer with much vivid color as well, buttplate with a silvery gray patina. Clear markings, mechanically functional, fine bright bore with some frosting and lightly scattered oxidation. Wood with much of the finish, showing scattered bump, dings and mars and some surface scuffs.
