11.25" blade with all details obscured by poor polish. Appears to have suguha hamon. Nakago with two mekugi-ana. Signed with seven-character signature and dated Bunkwa 5 (1808). Tang is one hole and signed and dated. Fittings comprised of Hirata style tsuba with flowers. Floral mon. Hirata enameled throat and tip on scabbard. This style of fittings is extremely rare and this is the only such example in the Squier Collection.
