Early Spanish Ripoll

.740 bore diameter, 7.775" octagonal-to-round barrel with cannon-style muzzle. Gunmaker's stamp on the top of the breech, (MAS) ( Domingo Mas, Ripoll gunmakers) circa 1715. Lockplate is beautiful early style with chiseled work on hammer and frizzen pan.  The stock has finely pierced brass overlays around rear barrel breech extending down to the ball butt. Brass engraved sheathing covering entire front end to muzzle. Triggerguard has brass inlay work around it. Nice pierced brass overlays covering the entire bottom of ball butt. The brass strip around both sides of stock in the middle of the gun. Some silver inlays and silver wire work rear of the front band. Engraved front brass band. Long belthook, iron tipped ramrod.

The barrel is gray with some staining and pitting.  The belt hook has some pitting is mostly gray metal. Brass with nice patina.  Stock is very good with nice dark patina.  Overall this is an excellent example of early Ripoll pistol.
