Early Flintlock Fowler

.62 caliber, 43" octagonal-to-round pinned smoothbore barrel, no S/N. Bright finish, brass triggerguard and pipes. Flat commercial flint lock with unbridled integral fenced iron pan and swan neck cock. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration. Probably an old American re-stock of English trade parts. No side plate or buttplate were incorporated into the work. Includes an old wooden ramrod.

Good. Showing use and age, metal with a mottled and oxidized patina and some scattered pitting. Mechanically functional, dirty and pitted bore. Stock worn, with cracks and repairs, particularly around the lock mortise where a large crack is secured with four iron staples. Some pins replaced with old nails.

Estimate: $600 - $800
