Doglock Blunderbuss, From the James B. Scoville Collection

1" bore diameter,  22" octagonal-to-round barrel. Early dog-lock system, lockplate marked Whtely  Brass buttplate and triggerguard. Wood stock. Whatley is listed from 1730-1790.  More than likely piece is second quarter 18th century.


All metal is smooth with some brown staining. Stock has been cleaned. The lock does work, mechanically functions.
