The feature of this lot is the pretty cases. The daguerreotypes are the icing on the cake. (Our scans of the daguerreotypes will be sub-standard due to not wanting to stress the bindings of the cases.)

1) Sixth plate. Japanned (black lacquer) case with Mother of Pearl inlay, gold gilding, and a little bit of hand-coloring. (Latch works. Very good condition.) 2 daguerreotypes. Man with fancy vest. (Light spot on forehead, mat abrasions. Would benefit from new glass.) Woman with fancy dress and cameo hanging from black neckband (is she grieving?) (Vertical scratches.)

2) Ninth plate. Japanned (black lacquer) case with Mother of Pearl inlay, gold gilding, and lots of hand-coloring. (Latch works. Spine is split at bottom. Good condition.) 2 Daguerreotypes. Man with big embroidered bow tie. (Glass is weeping heavily. Tarnish. Otherwise good.) Woman with long gold chain and shawl. (Corrosive spots and dings, which are raised bumps. Poor condition.)

3) Sixth plate. Pressed paper case with gold gilded floral designs. Some hand coloring. BIJOU on spine. (Very good condition.) Daguerreotype of man. Pose and chair are reminiscent of Boston style. Narrow mat. (Has heavy tarnish. Otherwise good.)

This is a multi-item lot, so special packing fees apply. See the shipping terms for details.
