A silk on linen ground sampler with an upper border of flowering baskets and plants, two zig zag side borders, a lower double cross border, three alphabets, decorative elements including a large, stylized flower at lower center, and three large tulips on either side, with the verse Let wisdom direct my step, and signed Elizabeth Lenora Haynes Aged 8 years, framed; 16 x 12.75 in. (sight), 18 x 14.75 in. (frame).
Elizabeth Lenora Haynes was born in Waterford Township, New London, Connecticut on October 28, 1824.
