Confederate Colonel John Q.A. Nadenbousch, 2nd Virginia Infantry, WIA 2nd Manassas and Chancellorsville, CDV

Carte de visite of Confederate officer John Q.A. Nadenbousch (1824-1892) dressed in uniform, seated in a simple studio setting, with imprint of R.J. Rankin, West Virginia on verso and modern inked identification. Nadenbousch enlisted at Charleston, VA, as a captain 4/18/1861 and was commissioned into Co. A, 2nd Virginia Infantry. He was promoted to colonel 9/17/1862. After being seriously wounded at 2nd Manassas and again at Chancellorsville, Nadenbousch was assigned to duty in the rear before resigning due to disability on 2/19/1864. His papers are housed at Duke University, UVA, and the Museum of the Confederacy.

Even toning to CDV. Image has lightened a bit. Mount corners clipped. Minor surface soiling. Minor loss to mount verso, likely a result of tape being previously removed from verso.
