** Colt Woodsman 1st Series Match Target
.22 LR caliber. 6.625" barrel length. SN: MT931. Single-action hammerless target pistol with "Elephant Ear" grips and adjustable rear target notch with front blade sights. Item displays a blued metal finish overall with checkered walnut grips displaying "{Rampant Colt}" medallions. Left barrel is marked "MATCH/{Bullseye}/TARGET" followed by "THE WOODSMAN". Left slide marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE" followed by "{Rampant Colt}". Item lacks hold open and retains heel magazine release. Comes with a single magazine marked "COLT WOODSMAN/CAL. 22 L.R./MATCH TARGET MOD." Triggerguard shows Colt's "VP" mark along with "P" to left side with "99" on right. Top of barrel marked "COLT'S PT F A MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA/PAT'D. DEC. 22. 1903. AUG. 27. 1918. SEPT. 3, 1918". Marking to barrel top and rampant colt to slide are weak. Item was manufactured in 1938.
Condition:
Very good to excellent. Bore is very bright with some powder fouling to bore and breech face that must be cleaned. Blued finish is excellent as refinished with some residue around front sight base. Item appears to have been refinished at some point by an experienced gunsmith, showing few instances of weak markings or buff marks. Wood grips have intact ears with some wear to checkering and medallions. Some mars to bottoms of elephant ears. Magazine is excellent. Action is functional.
