.36 caliber, 7.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 61197 (ca. 1856). Visible numbers matching. Nickel plating with replacement smooth one-piece walnut grip. Late third model configuration with iron triggerguard and back strap. Barrel marked with one-line New York Colt address. Frame marked with patent markings and "U.S." Butt shows "USN" stamp with serial number.
Fair. Moderate flaking and wear of plated finish with some needlepoint pitting and darkening throughout. Markings are moderately worn but still legible. Grips fit well and show a small missing section of wood on left side as well as some handling marks and blemishes. Mechanically functional. Bore is good; some brightness with scattered pitting and visible edges to rifling.
