.38 Colt. 6" barrel length. SN: 127532. Model of 1896 double-action revolver with swing out 6-shot fluted cylinder, squared release latch, and fixed notch and blade sights. Item has a blued metal finish and plain walnut grips. Rinaldo A. Carr "RAC" sub-inspection mark is present on upper left rear of frame, with a weak military inspection cartouche to bottom of left grip. Butt is marked with a partially obfuscated model mark and full serial number. Standard two-line manufacturer address and patent date marks are present but heavily worn. Cylinder release latch, inside frame, and crane all bear partial serial number "7532". This specimen was manufactured sometime in 1899.
Condition:
Good. Bore is frosty and has some moderate oxidation to rifling. Retains some of bluing on frame. Finish has mostly thinned to areas on barrel, cylinder, and lower frame, with scattered oxidation overall. Ejector rod-head appears to have been replaced. Grips appear to have strike marks and scratches to bottoms, and cartouche is heavily worn. Lockup has some wiggle room. Action is functional.
