Colt Single Action Army "Artillery" Model

.45 Colt, 5.5" barrel, S/N 84481 (mfg. ca1882). Nickel finish, smooth one-piece walnut grip. Mismatched numbers as most "Artillery" model Single Action Army revolvers are, with a David F. Clark DFC inspected black powder frame #84481 with three-line, three-date patent markings and US mark, a Rinaldo A Carr inspected and RAC marked barrel with bullseye ejector rod, a John E Greer G inspected triggerguard #113573, cylinder P proved with illegible number, grip frame serial numbered 8004, correctly sub-inspected with a tiny Ainsworth A. Grip with traces of cartouche on right side. Gun with later added nickel finish. Includes a Colt Factory Letter confirming the original US government purchase of the gun as a 7.5" cavalry revolver shipped on November 8, 1882.

Good. Retains much of the added nickel finish which has left the markings somewhat soft. Mechanically functional, very good bore with some scattered pitting. Grips worn and sanded with some chipped loss.
