* Colt Automatic Pistol,

.38 super caliber, 5" barrel, serial number 36085. Right side of slide marked with Colt and Super 38 over automatic, behind the grip on the right side is an ordnance wheel, and military subinspector's initials GHD on the left side of frame parallel with the grips.

This pistol was part of a contract of 400 guns shipped to the OSS in 1944-45. The initials GHD represent Guy H. Drewry, who was in charge of ordnance inspection from June 17, 1942, to July 15, 1945. (See Sheldon 1997: 107.)

Condition:Pistol retains ca 98% original blue finish. Brown plastic checkered grips. All serial numbers match. A very rare WWII collectible.
