**Colt 1911 "Black Army" Special
.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 510539. Single-action semi automatic pistol with removable 7-shot magazine, military lanyard ring, long grip safety, flat mainspring housing, and fixed u-notch and half moon sights. Parkerized metal finish and checkered brown plastic grips. Features checkering to short spur hammer, graduated thumb safety, slide lock, magazine release, and shortened trigger. Markings include two-line Hartford address surrounding a rampant Colt mark to left of slide. To left of frame "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" is marked, and there is also an (Eagle Head/S12) proof marked behind trigger guard cutaway. Model name is marked to right of slide, and serial number is marked above trigger guard on right side of frame. There are also "1/B" marks to right of frame behind grip. Possibly an arsenal rework but no arsenal marks have been noted. This item was manufactured in 1918.
Condition:
Very good. Bore is minty and rifling is sharp. Parkerized finish may have been added or redone at some point considering there are no arsenal rework marks. There are losses to finish on sharp edges and some light scratches overall, with two spots of active surface oxidation on left of slide. Will need mechanical attention to slide lock; when racking slide it does not spring up to locking place unless done manually (slide lock cutaway may have been altered at some point to cause this issue). Oxidation to grip screws.
