Colt 1862 Police Pocket
.36" caliber. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 508. Single-action five-shot percussion revolver with fluted cylinder and silver-plated iron gripstraps. Sights consist of hammer cutout with brass bead at muzzle. Displays a buffed bright metal finish overall with varnished walnut grips. Wedge and hammer screws have been replaced with modern ones. One line "ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT" mark to top of barrel with weak "COLTS/PATENT" mark to left frame. Single line patent mark within cylinder flute reads "PAT. SEPT. 10TH 1850". Serial numbers match where visible.
Condition:
Good. Bore is very dark with pitting particularly at muzzle. No trace of original blue or casehardening visible. Item has been buffed. Wood grips show some handling wear with indentations and notches at butt and some wear to varnish. Mainspring is weak and action fails to index properly or to let hammer fall completely.
