Colt 1855 Root Model 5 Revolver
.31 caliber, 3.5" barrel, S/N 7396 (mfg. ca1863). Blued finish, fluted 5-shot cylinder, varnished one-piece walnut grip. Standard barrel markings.

Condition:
Good. Retains no finish with a mottled and oxidized gray patina with some brown discoloration, showing some scattered pitting, particularly on the cylinder. Legible markings, mechanically functional, fair bore is moderately pitted. Grips with wear, bumps, dings and some chipped loss at the sharp edges. Revolver functions correctly most of the time, but like most Root revolvers has some intermittent timing and indexing issues.
